First of all, how badass is the title “Soldiers of Sorrow”? Absolutely badass. And there’s plenty of soldiers and sorrow here. And massive inferno explosions layered across the screen. I’ve re-watched this movie countless times, and I’ll probably watch it many more times. It’s very close to my heart. I love everything about it- the sets, the costumes, the atmosphere, the ridiculous fight scenes. If you know the history of the Beast of Gevaudan, you’ll know that the film plays with one of the popular theories surrounding the legend.
