Criterion Challenge '21 | Task #19
Céline Sciamma’s Portrait of a Lady on Fire is above all a gorgeous film, both in its story and in its blindingly stunning visuals.
I can’t help but feel a little disappointed, but that was somewhat expected. I have been putting this film off for far too long without any particular reason and now that I have finally seen it, the unanimous praise ended up making it a film that could never live up to the expectations that was set for it.
I hope to see it again. Now that I know exactly what the film contains I can only see myself growing fonder of it with every viewing.
