Such a mood. And honestly? I kinda enjoyed it. What a time stamp for the late 2000s.

Being over a decade removed from the pop culture spoofing and early-social media hate for this, rewatching it now, I realize it’s a well-made, well-paced teen romance that is surprisingly funny in parts. It’s definitely cringey, but the cast is all dialed in to the blue-tinted, cold, moody (and horny) vibes.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

While sometimes surprisingly messy in its execution given Deborah Chow’s stellar Mandalorian work and all the talent in front of and behind the camera, this ultimately proved to be so satisfying in the end.

An exploration of a broken person dealing with guilt and grief. A hero reborn when called to action and and inspired (then driven) by love and hope — can you get more Star Wars than this??

The duel in the finale between the former master and apprentice…

John Williams at 90: E.T. The Extra Terrestrial in Concert by the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center.

Purely magical experience. Multiple generations in the audience. Laughs and tears. The maestro himself John Williams came out on stage following the credits, and we all lost our shit.

    Unforgettable night.

Fangoria's Summer of Darkness series celebrating John Carpenter at Alamo Drafthouse.

Incredibly special to finally see it on the big screen (although strange to watch this in the summer). It looked GREAT up there.

Cundey's wide shots of sleepy, empty Haddonfield are exquisitely eerie, made even better projected on a giant screen in a theater. Wild to think I've only seen this on a TV screen my whole life.

Wonderful experience tonight! Making me miss spooky season even more.
