CHA CHA REAL SMOOTH is my new comfort film and now my favorite of Sundance. Being 22 myself, this is exactly the movie I needed right now. Cooper Raiff has made an extremely beautiful dramedy that had me laughing, crying & smiling like never before. Great autistic representation and 🔥 soundtrack. I had ZERO anticipation for this because I've never seen Raiff's first feature, but now I can't wait to watch this again.

The Bitch Who Stole Christmas 2021
This is essentially a Drag Race acting challenge stretched to feature length. Is it well written? No. Is it well directed? No. Is it well acted? Not really. Is anything about it objectively good from any type of technical standpoint? Not at all. Did I laugh and have fun? Mostly.
RuPaul trying to typecast Jan as a girl with no personality is just cruel. Also why was Brooke Lynn playing a Russian hooker? Was Katya not available? I could watch an entire movie of Latrice being the Ghost of Christmas Past/Present/Future tho. Not enough Latrice in this.

Elvis 2022
Two things are great about this movie: Austin Butler and Baz Luhrmann. One thing is a glaring misstep: Tom Hanks.
I really don't know what Tom Hanks is trying to do here. He's too cartoonish of a villain, he's doing this weird Eastern European accent when Tom Parker is supposed to be Dutch, and his fat face prosthetics are laughably bad. He brings down the film considerably for me.

Fresh 2022
I'm never gonna be able to listen to The Golden Girls theme song the same ever again...
FRESH is a fucked up feature debut by Mimi Cave in all the best ways. Sebastian Stan gives his best performance that'll make me never look at him the same again. Features some scenes that had my mouth fully on the floor with an ending that drives its message home.

Judas and the Black Messiah 2021
Why isn't Shaka in the best directing conversation?
Believe the hyped. Shaka King has elevated incredibly from his feature debut NEWLYWEEDS from 8 years ago. Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield act their asses off in the best performances of their careers. This is powerful.
