Love Letter 1953
Quite a gloomy denouement (sort of), but also a very interesting focus on postwar shame and anger.
Tanaka has a terrific sense of exteriors which carries a lot more realism than the precisely controlled mise-en-scene of the male 'masters' I'm familiar with from this period of Japanese filmmaking. And she frequently manages to include some very beautifully shot/composed sequences.

Night Is Short, Walk on Girl 2017
The best musical/pub crawl/second hand bookshop centred/cold epidemic/odyssey hybrid I've ever seen.
