Holy shit. This is my third time seeing this one but probably the first time it sort of "clicked" for me and I was able to make sense of it without having to look anything up.
I first watched Mulholland Drive back in November of last year, and I remember rating it 4/5, knowing that I had just witnessed a masterpiece, but also uncomfortable knowing that I hadn't really "enjoyed" it. Then I watched it on my birthday this year and just as I predicted, 5/5, one of the best I've ever seen.
Mulholland Drive was an awakening for me. It wasn't clear to me at the time, but a few months later, after having seen the entirety of Twin Peaks and most of Lynch's filmography, I was hungry for more movies that made me feel that way. I love feeling lost in a David Lynch film. I love having no fucking clue what's going on.
