TÁR 2022
Blanchett really is so good and there are some nice images, but I agree with Richard Brody’s complaint that the movie’s ambiguity and nuance serve as veneers for its fundamentally-regressive perspective. But that wasn’t the only emotion I felt, and when the lead performance is this compelling, it’s hard to fully dislike it, even though I think it amounts to a well-constructed and strange series of hollow and ultimately-vapid provocations.
