Josh Woods’s review published on Letterboxd:
"Today our beloved Great Leader Kim Jong-un, after witnessing the charlatan family video, was unable to contain his shock and fury at their wicked, despicable provocation!"
"I've missed your jokes, honey! ...No one can imitate North Korean news anchors like you!"
Over two hours in length and I still wish it was longer. I'm still not entirely sure what to say here, but I loved it.
Bong Joon-ho's films are notoriously deceptive. The first hour, very simply, involves a poor family's attempt to integrate themselves into a wealthy home by any means necessary. The second half is a trip. No spoilers, though; this one is way too good to even hint at.
