First time.
(I know)
And, like. Shit.
A horror movie made close to 50 years ago simultaneously slaps and floors me. SO disturbing. Scarier than anything I’ve seen in modern times. OG Nightmare on Elm Street comes close, but. This is outta control.
Far exceeded my expectations, thanks in particular to the world building. The astrological angle. Constant horror on the radio. Sets you can smell.
TOBE HOOPER.
First Videodrome at Vidiots (BLESS Vidiots!)
Loved the production design, costumes, colors, textures and weirds (Woods and Harry!) but … I couldn’t help feel it was written … in … college? By a moody broody (lol) young DC. Anyone else feel this? If I watched this when I was 11, and it delightfully traumatized me, I may feel differently, but…
Just when its meaning / intention / theme reared it’s head, it made a left turn and did something… else?
Just gonna consider this an art film, which I appreciate, butttttt not sure it’ll be an every year pop-on.
