Lily Tomlin and Art Carney make the most randomly awesome team ever in one of my favorite films which I recommend to anyone who loves oddball cinema.
Art Carney plays a semi retired private detective in Los Angeles in the 1970’s who, after the murder of a colleague from the old days, is guilted into taking on a small-time gig to find a missing cat belonging to Lily Tomlin.
Part old school detective story, part buddy comedy, part quasi uncomfortable…
Fant4stic... Huh.
Okay first of all, I thought it would be GREAT if I searched FF2015 and the shit wasn’t even on here. Low key I kinda was hoping it wasn’t. But it was! And I’m here. Anyway. Where to begin...
The movie is ALRIGHT.
I was expecting it to be much worse than it was. I literally haven’t seen it since like two weeks before it came out, and I was in a heavily fucking traumatized state of mind. Why? Eh, save that…
Less discussed Truffaut film I saw when I was a little boy — it’s always stayed with me.
Kind hearted story about a lonely doctor in Paris and a parentless feral child who was found in the woods.
The doctor treats the boy and ends up raising him.
It’s not a long movie, short and simple and sincere. Leaves you with a uniquely, and quintessentially French, life-affirming vibe you’ll be thankful to have experienced.
Save for a rainy Sunday.
Have seen this dozens and dozens of times and every time it ends I go on existential walks alone and emotionally ponder etc.
