Hardcore Henry

Hardcore Henry

Confrontation and admiration on screen, action cinema filtered through all the best gimmicks, the decade's first blockbuster exploitation film? It is totally disturbing (and also crazily new) to watch yourself stabbed, knife drenched in the red studio lights, finding yourself displaced directly within a nonsensical world - the very first post-credits shot here is incredible, the human body as a canvas for a rearrangement of vision. Regardless of whether Hardcore Henry is 'good' or not, I'd like more films like this, strictly rejecting the idea that audiences should ever be comfortable.
