Jack Verhaeg’s review published on Letterboxd:
It's a shame that one of District 9's best aspects is also one of its biggest disappointments. This gritty sci-fi thriller teases us by using its futuristic settings to tackle broader issues, however, before it does so satisfyingly, descends into generic sci-fi action. This is a case of wasted potential, a film that had the chance to critique the present by showing us the future. But it is bogged down poor performances, poor execution and a perpetual sense of mediocrity.
