Sure, sure, I hear you buddy. They've got it all wrong! Just a big misunderstanding! Hard to believe a guy's luck...

Noir to the point of parody, but it plays with the conventions stirringly - the shot where Vera opens her eyes mid-monologue gave me the biggest smile - and the whole thing is just a nice, tightly-wound adventure. I'm a sucker for unreliable narrators, particularly when they're kinda pathetic, and Tom Neal as Al Roberts is an all-timer.

It's not scary, it's not exciting, and honestly, it's not especially believable. (Particularly those alien costumes - real Halloween surplus stuff!) But it commits so authentically to its format, far beyond what later, more "cinematic" genre pieces were capable of. I'd almost call it a must-watch.

Holds up surprisingly well! Great set design, fun effects, brisk pace, and some interesting imperialist (and/or anti-imperialist?) themes.

Solid little thriller - a nice snowy visual identity with enough twists and turns to keep momentum up. Does feel a little repetitive in the middle, even with a pretty tight runtime, but I was surprised by how grody it gets once things start to accelerate and I do love that kind of thing.
