polar is pretty underwhelming for an action film. there wasn't a second of this film where I felt anyone but the villains were in peril. tbh there's not a single scene that actually put me on the edge of my seat.
there's nothing exceptional or creative with the gore or action and the film comes off as generic for the genre. not to mention the film has a painfully simple plot that could easily have been resolved in ninety minutes…
the concept of the film is fresh and in my opinion, it has pulled off the fusion of comedic and horror elements. the storytelling is vibrant and the cast didnt disappoint, they gave us superb performances. I really think the cast is the strongest point of this film. jake gyllenhaal, rene russo, and toni collette reinvented themselves in this film.
tho my main issue with velvet buzzsaw is that it makes it difficult for the audience to connect the dots.…
