    Fassbinder fell on his face. Don't think he ever met a trans person and somehow he forgot how to write dialogue or an event. Just any event that would make up a discernible plot. Pretty awful, dreary, and offensive.

    Wow, I'm blown away. I might move this up to five stars after further reflection. PTA always taps into something so raw. I've felt a lot of things during a lot of films, but here it's almost like the film is feeling things as well. Punch-Drunk Love is told from the subjective perspective of Barry Egan and that works entirely in its favor as he happens to be one of the most compelling characters of recent memory.
