Josh Rubenoff’s review published on Letterboxd :
In an age where so much recent studio fare is humorless prestige-TV-grade garbaggio, I sincerely appreciate an unpretentious pop musical that I could alternately laugh at (for its hokiness / sentimentality) and be disgusted by (for its egregious whitewashing.)
I found the anachronistic songs to be jarring! They kind of make sense for something like "Never Enough", which provides a contemporary analogy for how her performances may have been received in the period. But I feel like the other numbers clash with the aggressively nostalgic production design and CGI.
