Adrian Zachow’s review published on Letterboxd:
Is this a spoof? It really doesn't seem to be going for laughs, although it may generate a few awkward "they're-so-bad-they're-funny" moments. Wes Craven would have seemed a shoe-in to adapt this interesting comic superhero to the big screen, but alas, he did a rather poor job. Stodgy acting, abusive use of ineffective wipes, and a generally monotonous pace undermine what is in essence a straightforward mad scientist story. Oh, and let's not forget the terrible costumes. Swamp Thing's is not so bad, but the film tends to shoot him in broad daylight, which pretty much kills the slimy "swampy" look. Better not say anything about the villain's final transformation into a cheesy monster suit. I can imagine it being auctioned off for $1.00, and not selling.
