Juan Ramirez’s review published on Letterboxd:
Without getting into specific plot points and what it all means and before anyone predictably tells me to delete my account, let me just say that mother! has cojones. Darren Aronofsky really lays it all out there in this sometimes brilliant allegory: his obvious disdain for Christianity, his hysterical concern for the environment, and even his own personal life (the woman from the opening shot is a dead ringer for Rachel Weisz). Does it all work? Not really. Is it a bit heavy-handed? Sure. But I admire the film's ambition and its balls-to-the-wall insanity. That a studio executive read this script and green-lit mother! into production actually gives me hope for the film industry.
