Humanité ★★★★

L'humanité is a beautiful portrait about a detached individual and his efforts to make sense of his desires and his ever developing sentimental relationships after having suffered a terrible loss. Also, a clear and crude portrayal of the domination of desires of the flesh over reason that is very reminiscent of the cinema of Nagisa Oshima. Filmed with a detached and objetive precision by Dumonts camera, the deliberate pace culminates into a cathartic climax with a truly emotional, yet not artificial, effect.
