the safdies are officially my favorite director duo. they always capture new york raw, in all of its ugliness, and while the city lights are beautiful; they don’t romanticize it one bit. it’s sad, ugly, tragic, crime-ridden, honest and sometimes beautiful; and it’s home.
this will go down as one of the quintessential new york films that everyone should watch to really understand the city. rooting for this one this year.
