Bad Education

Bad Education ★★★★

Cory Finley’s second feature Bad Education is a fresh, compelling and whip smart true crime story. It’s not as wickedly strange as Thoroughbreds with Finley deciding to take this story in a more nuanced direction, but don’t get me wrong, it’s still a lot of fun watching this wild story unfold. The highlight of this film for me though is easily Hugh Jackman. He delivers a career-best performance and plays this greedy, tenacious superintendent to perfection. He really brings the film to a whole other level and there better be some awards ready for him. Now with two films under his belt, Cory Finley is proving himself to be a fresh, young talent in the industry and I’m down for whatever he makes next.
