Certain Women ★★★★

I almost called this dreamlike, but it's not quite. it's like being half-asleep in the backseat of a car on a roadtrip, or eavesdropping as you sit alone at a cafe – stretches of the ordinary and the mundane that you recognize as absolutely real, sometimes beautiful, sometimes to the point of boredom – but you're detached, separated, on the outside.

(also this is the first time I've ever struggled with a rating but I guess I'd put it at a 3.75? the style didn't allow me to anchor emotionally as much as I wanted to, but it was still such a good film regardless.)
