    When I first saw this, I was living in Detroit in the late-90s, aka Hockeytown at the height of the Red Wings/Avalanches rivalry where one game had 144 minutes of penalties and the next year’s game had 288 minutes of penalties.

    I thought Slap Shot was just a relatively tame sports comedy that couldn’t live up to reality.
