Prisoners

Prisoners ★★★

The title isn't a lie, folks. Nearly everybody in this film outside the girl who works at the Salvation Army store is a prisoner of some kind or another. You've got to hand it to a film that goes as far as this does to demonstrate a theme. Should it have been 2 and a half hours of that theme over and over and over again with nary a joke or light moment in sight? Probably not, and the the politics of the film are suspicious to say the least. Still, the performances are almost all good (DANO!) and it's real pretty to look at, it's just not at all pretty to experience.
