    Just want to add a little update here after rewatching and sitting on it for a while. This is my favorite movie of the year, and I don’t see anything beating it. It grows and grows, and I’ve thought about it more than anything I’ve seen in a long time.

    I had to unlearn what I’d been taught to think about this movie. Once I opened up my heart to it, just a crack, it caught me by surprise.

    As a child, I enjoyed this movie and it really moved me. I used to defend it. Then, without having seen it for years, I just accepted that I had probably been wrong. It’s funny that a major theme of the movie is regaining childlike belief, because that’s what I feel…

    Feels like it was made in 2006 in all the wrong ways. Unintentionally dystopian and disconcerting. There are a few good laughs, and I did have fun, but it left me feeling kind of icky and empty, like I’d just watched a very showy car commercial that was trying to convince me it wasn’t selling anything.

    Man, this movie just hits, every single time. Like Joaquin Phoenix’s character, Merrill, M. Night Shyamalan swings for the fences every chance he gets, but unlike the inconsistent Merrill, Shyamalan knocks it out of the park over and over again throughout Signs, with very few and very forgivable misses.
