    Wow, all it took was an actual script, a decent motivation for why Jigsaw is doing his thing, three-dimensional characters (of varying degrees), Tobin Bell being in the movie, and some scenes really being shot outside, and hey, they just about have a motion picture on their hands!

    Only took them ten movies to figure that out!

    I think this is probably the best since the first one.

    Todd Haynes is back with his best narrative since the magnificent Carol. I say narrative because his 2021 The Velvet Underground is a completely perfect, wonderful documentary.

    Really enjoyed Haynes cranking the campy psycho-dramedy up to 15 here. Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore and Charles Melton are fabulous.

    UPDATE: It's now been seven years since I've seen this film. I think about it at least once a day, and have every day, since June the 14th, 2016. Yes, this is a one-star review, but in reality, it's a secret four-star affair.

    It's like Napoleon Dynamite, The Room, Swamp Thing and Todd Solondz beat each other to death inside a Tim & Eric sketch, all set to a soundtrack from a Dan Deacon soundalike.
