Loved the look of Soul, and how the movie wasn't afraid to try different animation styles mixed in. Presents some interesting and heavy ideas in the first act which don't completely pay off, unless they had use to the plot. And with the plot, I like how it was woven into the central theme, but the resolution of the movie felt like a missed opportunity with how safe it was. There's good characters explored in creative ways, but the movie does adopt some typical Pixar formalities. But I thought the film was at its best with the quieter moments. I was glad somber music wasn't forced into every emotional scene, the movie knew when to stay quiet with about half of these key moments. I enjoyed the appreciation to music shown here, and the score was great as well.
