Justin’s review published on Letterboxd:
One of the most important and poetic films I have seen in years. I was so affected by it that I literally couldn't leave the theater for a few minutes. It tells a story of such rich characters with seemingly effortless beauty and grace. I am familiar with the book, so I knew the material, yet I was still so profoundly affected by it, as if encountering it for the first time. Director Barry Jenkins has truly outdone himself and has cemented himself as a modern auteur. Cinematically, Jenkins has managed to find beauty and poetry in even the grittiest and upsetting of locations and situations. Easily the best film of 2018 and one of the best films of the decade.
