(NYFF screening + Q&A)
Starting out as a hilarious and clever game of tricks and slowly morphing into a crescendo of chaos, Parasite is, in my opinion, writer/director Bong Joon-ho's masterwork. It's a showcase for a true talent at the top of his game and it's gonna be hard for him to top it (but let's be honest he probably will at some point). If you're reading this review and you want to find out more about this film going into it, don't. The experience of watching it is greatly enhanced by going in blind and I don't regret doing so. Every aspect of Parasite is nothing short of breathtaking and magnificent. It's a film that I can see myself rewatching endlessly, catching new winks and nudges every time, and it is already solidified as an all timer for me. Truly at a loss for words with this one.
