Willow ★★★½

The last hour of WILLOW is some of the best pulp novel fantasy to ever grace the screen. It's got magic, monsters, adventure, heroes and a rousing finale. Warwick Davis is endearing at the title character, Val Kilmer makes a great cad hero, and Joanne Whalley is a badass.

The first hour though...Oof...It's rough. What seems on the surface like a straight forward quest is constantly stopping, stuttering, and never getting to the damn fireworks factory. It honestly feels like a different director picked up the second half of the film. Could Joe Johnston (THE ROCKETEER), credited as a producer, be the one that took the reigns?
