    Jo Koy: In His Elements

    ½

Haven't watched a stand up special in a while, and considering I am Filipino, I decided to check this guy out.

    Ouch.

This isn't even a stand up special, more like a variety show with his friends who are considerably worse amateur comics that legit got nervous on the stage and flubbed their deliveries. I spent more time looking away, groaning, then actually watching it. The clips showing off Filipino culture was appreciated, but were pointless filler that added nothing to the show. The song at the end was absolutely terrible.

Basically this was one of the biggest wastes of time I've seen.

    Police Story

    ★★★

The story is not enough to sustain the moments in-between the action, which is a lot more than I expected. There are moments of levity and genuinely funny humor (bar that really weird rape joke), but most of it told an actually bad story.

    Back to the Future

I think this woke up something inside of me. I forgot how fun movies can actually be; not all of them have to have a message, or tell a universal truth. When was the last time I watched a fun movie, a movie that existed just for everyone to have a good, fun light hearted joy ride for 2 hours? The cynic in me was ready to lambast this film, but I didn't have it in me. I was having…
