    So the bad guy here is Weinstein, right? We're all on the same page there ... right?

    The guy controls women, leveraging power from behind the scenes, and he even kinda looks like him. And that real-life analogue makes sense, too, partly because this isn't a movie about a hero with superpowers, so even the visual aesthetic feels more grounded, with so many great sunset shots and lens flares happening in camera, not on green scren.

    A love letter to VHS and video nasties, "Censor" takes some big swings, playing as both a coy character drama and a gory exploitation flick. It even uses aspect ratio as a weapon, splitting the identity of the movie itself into two distinct parts with just a blurred line between them: one reserved and tightly controlled, the other unhinged.

    It's a movie full of shadows and fog and nonsensical rules, one where a mom fights a Christmas tree, noir and horror tropes drive the comedy, and 1,000 little monsters go to the movies to watch "Snow White."
