  • Dick Johnson Is Dead

    Dick Johnson Is Dead

One family's tender, fantastical, sick, and well-funded creative experiment to commemorate a kind man, as he looks his oncoming decline in the eye and grapples with that reality.

I appreciate how both Johnsons make us face the "big" questions, but I wish there were more of a thesis here.

  • The Craft

    The Craft

    Women be spellcasting!

I wish the witches' main conflict was with the rest of the world rather than each other but I understand the cult status this movie has earned.

  • Downfall

The eugenics doctor is the good guy??

  • The Nice Guys

    The Nice Guys

Tries too hard to be Pulp Fiction when really it's more of a Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. The surrealism fell flat for me, as did the precocious, wise-beyond-her-years daughter, but the jokes and performances are very solid.

Russell Crowe should play chubby has-beens more often!

  • A Shot in the Dark

    A Shot in the Dark

My first Peter Sellerts joint and I'd say my expectation were met. I just don't think I'm a slapstick kinda gal.

  • Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)

Kinda bad but honestly way better than expected, and easily the best non-Batman DC production. It's fun to look at, Robbie is a delight, and the fight choreography was really solid. Worth a watch if you like these kinda movies.

  • Mission: Impossible - Fallout

    Mission: Impossible - Fallout

I'd do all my own stunts too if I had an endless supply of Scientology slave labor to cater to my every need.

  • Ford v Ferrari

    Ford v Ferrari

I think I liked this movie at the time because I was going through a big Mario Kart phase.

  • 1BR

Lol-- never trust a building where the residents actually use the common areas to socialize with each other!!

While extremely low-budget and chock full of tropes, this movie does a lot with what it has, packs some original twists, and overall delivers a thoroughly satisfying horror story exceeding my expectations.

  • I'm Thinking of Ending Things

    I'm Thinking of Ending Things

Neither the palpable momentum of the first hour, nor Toni Colette's incredible wig work are enough to save this film from its most pretentious urges
