J.V. Jowett’s review published on Letterboxd:
A fable about the dark side allure of political violence.
My first viewing I certainly didn't get this, where's the action, the violence? My teenage brain didn't want to engage with what it was saying about giving yourself to a cause greater than yourself, and the dissolution of the individual into a group . Not to get too political but it feels extra poignant in this day in age of broad ideological movements that care little about the individual person within the group, willing to turn on you to further the cause.
The deliberate pacing and slow burn to the final shoot out really resonates with me now.
