Refreshingly subdued (for QT) and supremely enjoyable. After eight films that could only be his, the world of Once Upon a Time does not so obviously bear his stamp - at least not until the climax, which is pure joy and pure escapist fantasy. Quentin's indulgences in this instance feel balanced by the overall length, tone, and character of the film.
