Kalpit Tandon’s review published on Letterboxd:
Sardar Udham pulls the rarest of rare punches - it becomes a patriotic beast of a tale, grappling with nation's turbulent past while also critiquing on the present state of the country. Unlike all other freedom fighter bandwagons, it refuses to yield to generic frills of this genre and delivers a noir soaked, fuming gut punch of a thriller - polished, brutal and yet so freaking suave.
Shoojit Sircar's ambitious take is elevated by a tremendous production design, grounded approach, complex narrative style and is only bogged down by minor pacing plagues. Led by probably a career best performance from Vicky Kaushal, Sardar Udham is a knockout stunner that burns up slowly and extinguishes with an emotionally stirring payoff.
