    After previously watching Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016), I had set my expectations astronomically high for this movie of the same(ish?) genre which was my first mistake. (Upon revision I have learned that one of the writers of this film also wrote that one. Go figure.)     When I was young I had an affinity for picking at my cuts and scabs, although told time and time again not to because it would just make it bleed more. There is no other way I can think of to explain Perfect Blue than to compare it to a wound that you naively keep picking at and picking at and picking at until there’s nothing left. And everything is open. Exposed. Vulnerable. And although it hurts, it just feels right. It makes sense. But also, it doesn’t.
