Kane Bumpers’s review published on Letterboxd:
Technically speaking, there was so much to appreciate. The sound design, the acting, and the camera movements were all stellar. On an emotional level, I think that the script was overwritten for most of the film, leading to a disconnect. A film like Manchester by the Sea is much more subtle, also infusing dark comedy, which lends to the realism that makes the experience so emotional. Outside of a couple of scenes, I wasn't terribly emotional while watching this. That being said, this was overall pretty well made and moving so I enjoyed it.
