Django Unchained

Django Unchained ★★★★½

If I'm quite honest, Django was one of those movies I just went to see because of the director and I think that's possibly the reason I loved it that much. (Contrary to Inglourious Basterds which I was really excited about and ended up being a little disappointed in.)

Now I don't really like Leonardo DiCaprio that much. Nor am I a very big fan of Jamie Foxx but my oh my - the role of Django was superb! Leo wasn't too shabby either (though I did have some problems with his accent). Now the actor that I wasn't that impressed by, was Christoph Waltz. Don't get me wrong, the man can act, but this role? Well, let's just say I wasn't that impressed. He was basically just a Good Guy Hans Landa, which wasn't bad, but cmon, Oscar worthy? I think not

Now the movie itself was a classic Tarantino movie:

● awesome soundtrack
● badass shooting scenes
● healthy amount of pretentious dialogue
● great cinematography and montage
● tension, and loads of it

The only thing missing from a classic Tarantino film was a strong a powerful woman character. But at least Zoe Bell had a cameo!

All in all, quality entertainment. Thumbs up. Kudos to Quentin.

P.S. Sam Jackson deserves his own paragraph so...
