F for Fake ★★★★★

My lord, Orson Welles. A sumptuous collection of images and sound, coalescing in your brain frame and melting it down a little into a swirling puddle of deception and smooth narration. Mastery of the medium is on full display here, and results in one of the most rewarding and enjoyable deconstructions of art ever attempted (as far as my lame brain can assume...not very far). Supremely edited, shot, and performed, Welles makes me fall in love with cinema and the possibilities it offers all over again. He's so clearly enthralled with every dream and trick that can be entrenched within each inch of celluloid, it's dizzying and satisfying on a molecular level.

Master magician, master filmmaker, master master.
