Synchronicity ★★★

A little bit of Primer, a little bit of Blade Runner (OK, a whole lot of Blade Runner, right down to the distractingly Vangelis-like soundtrack), a little bit of Looper/Timecrimes/etc, a whole lot of (ugh) romance... This film wants to be a profound head-scratcher, but it throws way too many influences at us, with the effect of making the viewer wish she was watching one of those other films instead of this one. It's not terrible, just not terribly original.

Surprisingly good, understated, believable performances, though, even from Michael "Permanent Heavy" Ironside, whose role was written so cartoonishly there was no way for him to be even a little subtle.
