Was this movie perfect? No. But if you present to me Margot Robbie, a shoddy (but loveable) performance from Ewan McGregor, Asian representation (including filipino!!), killer visual design and frickn’ roller skates it’s hard for me not to have a good time.
As it has with many people, this film resonated with me in so many ways. I love the way Miyazaki depicts the beauty of the small, mundanities of life. What struck a chord with me personally included the small moments like sitting on the grass and eating in the shade of a tree, even just the instance of sleeping under a mosquito net.
