While I appreciate the wonderful creativity on display here and the very personal story being told, I could not connect to this movie at all. I might give it another try at another time, but today I wasn't feeling it. I still encourage everyone to check it out though!
Goddamn I love sad movies. Although just calling this a sad movie would be an understatement and a disservice. While it ist quite sad, it is also funny, visually stunning, and most of all, engaging.
I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, absolutely transfixed by the tragedy moving forward without a break (except for the flashbacks, that don't do anything to dampen the misery, just the opposite).
The best kind of sad movies are the ones…
This was great! While I'm not the biggest fan of the typical Seth Rogen humour, it worked really well here! Probably had something to do with Charlize Theron bringing her A-game.
Definitely one of the best rom-coms of recent years. I actually, real-life lolled while watching this on my own. It's also sweet and romantic, and the conflict was actually kind of a real conflict, compared to other rom-coms.
Also O'Shea Jackson as the impossibly positive best friend absolutely killed me (could have done withouth the republican endorsement though)!
