Ken’s review published on Letterboxd :
Engrossing and skeevy, Nightcrawler, the directorial debut of Dan Gilroy, is an uncomfortable but obsessive and deeply fascinating look at what TV news could be under the surface of well lit sets and playful banter. Jake Gyllenhaal is spellbinding, a transformation both physical and psychological that should have been nominated for the Oscar. The rest of the cast -- like Rene Russo and Riz Ahmed -- are great. Gilroy's script is solid, but characters feel underdeveloped, although in the grand scheme of things, detachment is minimal.
