By far the best scene is when Luther picks up Murphy’s car from the lot and drives it to the subway. Everything is perfect. The music, the camera following at a distance, Murphy’s comment on Nolte’s “shit blue Cadillac.” This is how I’d film someone following a car.
I felt a lot of joy watching this movie. People doing what they gotta do in order to get closer to who they are and the people they “gotta lotta love for.” The music, including Cera’s ridiculous metal band, is full of life and joy. It’s at the forefront and hard to ignore. Everything felt in place here.
