Keith LaFountaine’s review published on Letterboxd:
Well there it is, I've logged 1000 films on LB, and I could not have watched a better film to celebrate that accomplishment.
The Godfather: Part II is far more nuanced than its predecessor, and its non-linear storyline helps to highlight the similarities between Michael and Vito.
Further. Robert De Niro is perfect as young Vito, and Al Pacino gives one of his best performances, beautifully understated, in this film.
If other filmmakers should take any sort of inspiration from this film, it is to push themselves artistically with their stories, even if said stories are a continuation of a previous one.
