Sort of a procedural, courtroom/family drama, and revenge thriller film all blended into one. Diane Kruger is incredible and since she has about 98%, maybe more, of the screen time, that's pretty important. She covers the whole gamut of emotions throughout and even does the drug-induced haze thing really well.

Kept me invested for the entire runtime and, if I had a heart, I might have even gotten emotional at some of the scenes. Boy oh boy, another disappointing rewatch of what I thought was a classic comedy. The movie, for the most part, is just not that funny and any sort of social commentary it is trying to make does not really work.

I laughed hard at two things, the BLT breaking of the fourth wall moment by Murphy, and Aykroyd, as Santa, gnawing on a Giant side of smoked fish on the bus. Both hilarious, but that's a pretty low hit rate for a full movie. So disappointing.

There is honestly not a tonne to the film aside from the concept, and at times it even feels like a…

I should say this movie is probably not meant for me; it is meant for those who read and loved the books. That said, wow, this was a complete failure as a film for those of us who have not read the books. It is completely humourless, which would be fine if the drama had any sort of impact, but it doesn't and if you are going give this pseudo-Running Man/Fifth Element style to the world and the games, how…
