Happy Together

Happy Together ★★★★★

In response to this Criticwire Survey prompt a while back, I went on record and admitted I was never much of a fan of Wong Kar-Wai's Happy Together—not because I thought it was terrible or anything, just because, even on two viewings, it always left me feeling indifferent, as if, for once, Wong's usual improvisatory methods had failed to yield up any resonant or even interesting content. Recently, though, I decided to give the film yet another go for this (currently ongoing) retrospective series at In Review Online and see if the intervening years had changed my reaction to it at all.

Well, lo and behold.
