    Missing

not as good as Searching, and i called a few of the twist beats, but yo… when you notice something in the corner of the screen ONE SECOND before the camera pans to it… bliss. that sinking feeling you get in your stomach as you discover new information along with her… that is a fucking DRUG for me and i got a hit of it like 10 times in those two hours and that’s good enough for me. fun movie.

january ‘23 is big on the thr33. might go see Plan3 or F3ar next.

  • Ari Shaffir: JEW

    Ari Shaffir: JEW

Shaffir has always been a provocateur. Sometimes I like it, other times not. To be honest, I never really thought his persona would align with the culture in the same way his peers did. But then with Kanye and Kyrie illuminating a pathway toward a very niche but suddenly relevant topic, Shaffir self-produces JEW, and releases it for free.

This might actually be the most transgressive comedy special of modern times. I’m used to Ari putting too fine a point on…

    Jackie Kashian: Stay Kashian

After taking a few minutes to feel out the vibe and build some momentum, this essentially becomes a greatest hits of what must be hours of well-honed, working-comedian stagecraft, and deserves to be renowned as one of the top-tier YouTube specials of recent years.

    Skinamarink

at first i thought NOTHING could be scarier than the experience of this movie playing in a theater, but that was before i’d heard a chorus of bored girlfriends asking their boyfriends “so what did you think????” the very SECOND the house lights came back up when it ended

  • Andrew Santino: Cheeseburger

    Andrew Santino: Cheeseburger

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Having never seen his standup and after a year of becoming a fan of Santino’s general sense of humor from discovering his podcast Whiskey Ginger in 2022, I was hoping for a more valuable perspective than the general stage persona that any of the other straight-white-Rogan-entourage guys have to offer. Alas, if Santino just wants to be a cheeseburger, I’ll grant him that. But this burger has nothing valuable in it to help you digest the meat of it. This cheeseburger…

  • The Silence of the Lambs

    The Silence of the Lambs

This is obviously a great, classic movie, but it’s hard for me not to resent it a bit for the legacy that exists outside of its control: mainly, the way it ushered in the most pervasive content-driven mindset to corrupt artistic drive within the entertainment industry alongside superheroes: the gross, procedural crime-drama. The popularity that market exists in today speaks for itself, and Demme set the original gold standard for how to do it. Unfortunately, all these bingeable podcasts and…
