No Name on the Bullet ★★★★

Although I felt a bit let down at the rather uninspiring CinemaScope photography and production values, No Name on the Bullet is all about Audie Murphy, and his performance as the hired assassin who comes to town, spreading fear and paranoia with his mere presence. Jack Arnold was no Anthony Mann or Budd Boetticher, but he delivers a solid and absorbing psychological western, that stands out amongst his legacy of 50's creature features and Gilligan's Island episodes.
